FTI Cruises Ceases Operations

Berlin by FTI Cruises

FTI Cruises, the German cruise line, which operates the single ship Berlin, has ceased operations as part of a business streamlining plan by FTI Group.

FTI Cruises, along with Fly.de, Touristic 24 and LAL Sprachreisen are all set to be discontinued by the end of the 2019/20 financial year.

FTI will “emerge from the crisis stronger than before, despite the current economic prospects for the industry with a new structure and focused on our strong core business,” believes the company founder, Dietmar Gunz.

Berlin, the single cruise ship FTI operated, began life in 1980 operated by Peter Deilmann Cruises. For seven years between 2006 and 2012, the ship operated as Spirit of Adventure for Saga Cruises. FTI purchased the ship in 2012 and has operated Berlin ever since. It it unclear what will happen to the ship at this stage, however the ship is likely to be scrapped.
