Royal Caribbean International has announced its next new ship, Odyssey of the Seas, has been delayed by six months and will not launch until April 2021.

The impact of Covid-19 has had an impact on shipyard operations and its supply chain, as a result, Odyssey of the Seas , won’t be ready to launch until the spring of 2021.

The news comes just days after Meyer Werft released a video explaining construction was behind schedule due to two recent fires onboard. On May 28, a fire was reported on deck 8 near a stateroom. On June 24, a second fire occurred involving insulation materials.

Royal Caribbean has cancelled all sailings on the new ship between 5 November 2020 and 17 April 2021. Guests impacted will receive a 125% Future Cruise Credit or a refund.
