Margaritaville at Sea Acquires 3rd Former Costa Ship

In a move signaling continued expansion, Margaritaville at Sea has announced the purchase of its third vessel, the Costa Fortuna. This acquisition comes just three years after the cruise line set sail, underscoring a period of significant growth.

“Over the last three years, we have been incredibly focused on building Margaritaville at Sea by delivering more of what our guests love: a uniquely laid-back island attitude with award-winning hospitality,” stated Christopher Ivy, CEO of Margaritaville at Sea, highlighting the company’s core strategy.

The Costa Fortuna, currently sailing under the Costa Cruises banner, will become the flagship of the Margaritaville at Sea fleet. With a substantial size of over 102,500 gross tons, the vessel can accommodate approximately 3,450 passengers, making it the largest in their current lineup. The transition of the ship is slated for the third quarter of 2026.

Looking ahead, Ivy expressed excitement about the possibilities this new addition brings. “With the acquisition of our third ship in three years, we are proud to once again invite guests to step into the Margaritaville state of mind on the open ocean. The launch of the Margaritaville at Sea Islander was a significant moment for our company, and the acquisition of the Costa Fortuna, our largest ship to date, gives us another exciting opportunity to bring even more fun and escapism to guests from a new homeport in 2026,” he elaborated. The company has indicated that the specific homeport for the Costa Fortuna will be revealed at a later date.

Echoing this sentiment of progress, John Cohlan, CEO of Margaritaville, remarked, “Margaritaville at Sea has been on an exceptional trajectory since its launch only a few short years ago. We’re thrilled to once again expand the experience of our brand on the water and share the cruise line’s signature experiences and amenities with even more guests.”

Consistent with their existing fleet, Margaritaville at Sea plans to reimagine the Costa Fortuna, infusing it with the signature design elements that have become synonymous with the brand’s successful “island attitude.”
