The former Hapag-Lloyd expedition ship Hanseatic – now know as RCGS Resolute – has been sold at auction in Curacao for just $600,000 according to Cruise Industry News.
The 184-passenger, ice-strengthened ship was previously reported to be worth around $25 million.
The ship has had an eventful past year, ever since leaving the Hapag-Lloyd fleet and joining the now defunct One Ocean Expeditions.
In October 2019, the RCGS Resolute was detained in Buenos Aires following the demise of its owners. During its return to Europe the ship was rammed by a Venezuelan naval vessel, which later sank. RCGS Resolute sailed to Curacao with a damaged bow. The ship has remained there ever since.
The buyer of the ship has not been revealed.
