American Cruise Lines has revealed new details about its upcoming riverboat, the American Anthem, set to debut in early 2027.
Designed to accommodate 180 guests, the 6,000-ton vessel is currently under construction at Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland. Once completed, it will set sail on the Columbia and Snake Rivers, with its inaugural cruise scheduled for April 2, 2027.
The American Anthem is part of ACL’s modern riverboat series and will feature multiple dining venues, a multi-story glass atrium, and a fitness center. According to the company, the ship’s fresh, contemporary design reflects the evolving expectations of today’s travelers.
As part of its maiden season, the American Anthem will offer eight-night itineraries between Portland, OR, and Clarkston, WA, with departures running through early November 2027. The voyage will include stops in Kalama, The Dalles, and Richland, as well as excursions to regional attractions such as Fort Clatsop, Mount St. Helens, Pendleton, Hells Canyon, and Multnomah Falls.
Before the American Anthem joins its fleet, ACL is set to introduce five new ships between 2025 and 2026. These include four coastal vessels—the American Patriot, American Pioneer, American Ranger, and American Maverick—along with another riverboat, the American Encore.
The American Anthem will be the seventh vessel in ACL’s modern riverboat series, which began in 2018 with the launch of the American Song. Other ships in the series include the American Harmony, American Jazz, American Melody, American Symphony, and American Serenade.
