Vasco da Gama Ship Tour

Welcome onboard Vasco da Gama – the latest vessel to join the Cruise & Maritime Voyages fleet. We toured the ship during its UK launch event in London Tilbury. At 55,877 gross registered tonnes, Vasco da Gama accommodates up to 1,220 guests. In the winter she operates in Australia for CMV, but in the summer months she can be found in Northern Europe sailing with German sister brand Transocean.

The cabins onboard are very spacious and comfortable. A seating area, vanity table and even a dvd player can be found in all cabins. The majority of accommodation come with a bathtub.

The atrium is the main information hub on the ship. Here you will find a small computer station, guest services and the shore excursions desk, plus the future cruise sales office. There’s also seating areas ideal for meeting friends before heading ashore. Vasco da Gama has an extensive range of shops selling boutiques and souvenir items.

Just off of the atrium is the Cellar Door, ideal for tasting a fine selection of wines. On deck 8, you’ll find the casino lounge. This colourful venue is of course, as the name suggests, home to the casino onboard. But you can alos help yourself to one of the many board games, take a seat and have a fun game with fellow guests.

The Captain’s Club comprises of several different bar areas to create one main social hub. From a champagne bar, to a piano corner, there’s a place to suit everyone in this unique lounge.

The bright white library is well stocked with many great reads and the study is the ideal hideaway to unwind and read a book in quiet with stunning views.

The Ocean Bar is one of the main lounges onboard Vasco da Gama. Featuring green pastle colours and plant-based décor it’s a calming retreat for a drink after a busy day ashore.

The Blue Room is the ideal place to head for pre-dinner drinks before enjoying Asian-style meals in the Waterfront Eurasia restaurant. Dining here is complementary, as well as in the Waterfront Mediterranean restaurant which offers typical cuisine from Italy, France and the sunny climates of Southern Europe. The Waterfront is the main dining venue onboard, serving international dishes and traditional British classics. Unlike other Cruise & Maritime Voyages ships, there are no separate sittings, giving you freedom to eat when, wherever and with whomever you like. The Grill is one of two speciality dining venues onboard, with the other being the exclusive Chefs Table experience. In the Grill you’ll find various different cuts of meat all aged and cooked to perfection.

Club Bistro is an international marketplace of food. Different serving stations offer delicious tastes of the world, including a healthy counter and tempting desserts.

Hollywood’s is the name of Vasco da Gama’s show lounge. Spanning 2 decks it’s a stunning venue with plenty of seats for everyone. The décor is very glamourous too with some beautiful staircases leading up to the higher level. During our stay, we were welcomed onboard by CMV’s Chairman and key members of the company. We got to enjoy a fantastic performance of Anchors Aweigh featuring the singlers and dancers, plus talented musicians.

Attend a lecture or a watch one of the latest blockbusters in The Auditorium. In the evening, the dome is the place to be. Home to the nightclub, dance away to disco classics from the 60, 70s, 80s, and right up to the latest hits. The dome offers a stunning viewpoint on a sea day.

Vasco da Gama has 2 pools onboard. The Lido Pool is a luxurious area to relax with soft sun loungers and comfy sofas. As Vasco da Gama will spend the summer sailing Northern Europe, the retractable roof makes the pool area enjoyable no matter what the weather maybe like outside. At the back of the ship is the outdoor Oasis Pool, ideal for those wanting to sunbathe on the expansive open deck. Vasco da Gama also has a large gym with a great space for fitness classes.  There’s also a great spa and beauty centre, as well as tennis courts on the top deck.
